Educational Qualification
Engineering & Technical Posts
Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant engineering discipline — Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, Chemical, Civil, or Mining Engineering from a recognised University. Certain posts additionally require a valid professional licence (e.g., AME Licence for Airworthiness Officer).
Scientific & Research Posts
Degree or Master’s in Physics, Mathematics, Atmospheric Sciences, Instrumentation, or allied science disciplines from a recognised institution. Posts in IMD (Scientist-B) typically require specialisation in meteorology or atmospheric physics.
Professor / Lecturer Posts
Ph.D. with requisite years of post-doctoral teaching or research experience for Associate Professor posts. For Lecturer posts, a relevant degree in the language (Persian / Tibetan) is required along with teaching experience as specified.
Explosives & Mines Posts
Degree in Mining Engineering or Chemical Engineering from a recognised university. For Deputy Controller of Explosive (PESO), relevant experience in petroleum or explosive safety domains is required alongside the engineering degree.
Administrative & MSME Posts
Relevant degree (e.g., Food Technology, Textile Engineering, Leather Technology) for IEDS posts. Research Officer and Tourist Officer posts require a degree in a related discipline with documented work experience.
Experience Requirements
Most Group ‘A’ posts require a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in the specific domain. Group ‘B’ posts may require 1–3 years. Experience is relaxable for SC/ST candidates at UPSC’s discretion when sufficient candidates from those communities are unavailable.

📵 Mobile Phone Ban
Mobile phones, pagers, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, pen drives, and any electronic equipment are strictly banned in UPSC examination and interview halls — even in switched-off mode. Candidates must not bring any such items or valuables to the venue.
🎭 Face Authentication
All candidates must undergo mandatory face authentication at the examination venue / interview hall. Arrive well in advance for identity verification and frisking. Failure to undergo authentication may result in disqualification.
📜 Documents at Interview
